Finance Compliance Officer
As the Financial Compliance Officer at CJCH Solicitors, you will play a critical role in managing the firm’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards including the SRA, and driving financial efficiency. This role focuses on compliance in relation to the handling of client money, transactional controls, budget management, treasury operations, internal audit, supporting the preparation of management accounts and contributing to the firm’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Transactional Control (Primarily Client Accounts):
- Oversee daily financial transactions, including billing, accounts payable/receivable, and ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial processes and systems.
- Collaborate with teams to streamline financial operations.
Support preparation of Management Accounts:
- Support in preparation of accurate and timely management accounts to
support strategic decision-making. - Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal reporting
requirements.
Budget Control:
- Develop, monitor, and analyse annual budgets in alignment with the
- firm’s objectives.
- Provide insights and recommendations for budget adjustments and
- financial forecasting.
- Prepare detailed reports on budget performance and deviations.
Internal Audit:
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations
and internal policies. - Identify and mitigate risks related to fraud, inefficiencies, or
mismanagement. - Ensure the integrity of financial data and processes within the
organisation.
Treasury Management:
- Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and optimal allocation of financial
resources. - Oversee investment strategies, banking relationships, and risk
management practices. Prepare reports on treasury activities and financial planning.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in financial compliance within a legal or professional services environment (preferably within SRA regulated environment).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or qualified by experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and auditing processes.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
